Unit 10 AO3 Investigate Other Sources of Digital Image

Task 1

Collect a range of different images from sources such as internet, image library and scanner. These images will be edited and used to create an image for AO4 and AO5 so choose them carefully.

The final image you will make will be based on the style of a well known photographer such as Rankin. Investigate the work of a professional photographer before taking the photographs.

Unit 10 AO1 Investigate Photography using a Digital Camera

For this AO you will have to take a selection of creative and interesting photographs using a range of different settings on the digital camera.


Save all of the images in a folder and also put them in a Word document describing the settings used for each one and some of the differences as a result of the different settings.

For each function:

Take 3 photographs of the same thing using different resolution each time. Then describe the differences in the photographs.
Ideally use a tripod to eliminate any interference from 'camera shake'.


Use each of the following:

• Resolution
• ISO
• Macro

Then go on to explain the difference between

• Digital and Optical Zoom

AO6 Present findings to an audience

Make a presentation that includes:

• The original hypothesis
• Tables with explanations
• Graphs with explanations
• Explanation of whether or not the analysis has proved or disproved the hypothesis

Write an evaluation of how effective the spreadsheet model was.

AO5 Create the graphs

Make sure you have at least three different types of graphs. Describe why each type of graph has been used in a separate document.

Bar charts are used to compare different amounts of several items in a series. Its height indicates the number of units being counted.

Line graphs are used to plot changes over time or other continuous data. Most suitable when comparing one value as it changes over time with another value. For example changes in temperature.

Pie charts are used to show the data as a percentage of the whole.

AO4 Testing Plan

Task 1

Make a test plan to test the spreadsheet and make sure all the results are reliable.

Include the follwing:

Action needed

Complete the test and record any actions you have had to take.

AO4 - Analyse the data

Use pivot tables and graphs to show the differences between the results of the questionnaire from Year 7 and Year 11.

Make sure your graphs are meaningful, have titles, axis labels.
